As long as you use the main 24mm 1X lens you’ll get the 48MP. Regardless of what conversion lens you put on it. That’s really the beauty of it. It also makes it more useful in low light (for different looks) and also for creating more shallow depth of field.

That hasn’t been an option until USB-C and the 15 Pro, so I’m not sure how you were doing that unless maybe there’s a hack of some kind. Now you could send a 1080 video signal out that was highly compressed and you could see it on an external monitor, but it wasn’t for recording. And you had to use an HDMI adapter to get to the monitor. And it was only available in certain apps like Filmic Pro or LumaFusion, though you could also do a screen recording for a tutorial to an Atomos recorder.

Sure you could do that I didn’t have any fast thumb drives or ones with enough storage.

Definitely, use them all the time. They’re probably my favorite “affordable“ filters. Those and Moment are also good. Polar Pro are probably the best but they’re also the most expensive.

They don’t support it on the 15 Pro either. Not sure why. Total guess maybe it dropped frames or potentially it got a lot of artifacts. The 120 doesn’t look very good. I would personally stick to 4K 60.

Yeah used to be you would get two or three cycles out of one cage. But since Apple makes slight adjustments to their body every year now, you do have to update. However, most people keep their phones for three or so years and also the nice thing is this cage is so affordable that it’s not a big deal.

No I haven’t. But I’ve used it as follow focus on a variety of larger and smaller rigs and it works very well.

I wouldn’t shoot full auto because likely then the window would be exposed and the subject would be underexposed, but in that situation you wouldn’t have to worry about an ND filter and typically the app does a pretty good job keeping the shutter around 180° when indoors. You could just touch the screen and auto expose like that but then lock that. The main thing to keep in mind is shoot with a low ISO, that’s another reason not to use full auto as it will often crank that up and get noisy.

Haven’t seen one, but Beastgrio does have other lens mounts like for Nikon, Pentax and more. beastgrip.com/collections/dof-adapter I have seen EF to C mount adapters, but they are mounting to a C mount not the other way around like you’d need here.

I already suggest it to Beastgrip. Backbone do it for Gopro with d and c and mft adapter.

What app are you using to record the audio?

Some phone models the audio meter is very small and along the bottom.

Sure, no one is saying don’t have a traditional camera. I own lots of cameras. Most photographers or filmmakers do This is just an accessory like you would get with any camera, and they’re niche, but definitely not useless.

Boring to use a "real camera". More exciting to use the dof in non professionnal situation to experiment, discover, search a different picture look.

I have not seen that before, so I am not sure. Interesting though to have both options. It would likely depend on if an app supported both inputs or one might override the other and only allow one. Curious which phone is that?

It’s my understanding this is an issue with the phone and not an app. Likely to do with phones being fixed aperture. Although seems to me like it’s something that could be implemented, but at this point no one has it that I know of.

Make sure you’re shooting in HD. In 4K you can only go up to 60fps.

@@iphoneographers I tried, does not appear in the menue 🤷🏻‍♂️. is it because it‘s an iphone 13 Pro. I have the latest IOS and the latest BM camera app version 🧐 I only have 30 fps in 4k and 60fps in HD to choose from 🤷🏻‍♂️

Check your codec and make sure you’re on HEVC. ProRes has some limitations.

You can shoot handheld, just have to make sure focus peaking is turned on in your app (but you do that regardless). I tend to use a tripod though.

I’m guessing they just mean from a remote control point of view? Otherwise really any gimbal is compatible with any camera. The only thing I would say is adding a little bit of weight with the cage is preferable. And actually the heavier duty gimbals are what I prefer. A lot of those companies don’t realize or understand the accessories we can now add like lenses cages, etc. But yeah, this is a great gimbal.

Depends, but probably as most of those rigs are top-heavy. You can use different counterweights that are more or less universal. These should work, although I haven’t tried them personally… amzn.to/3KupZMM

In 4k. You can do 120 in HD.

Everything in this video was shot 60/24 using Apple log and I had zero issues. When you updated the app, did you hard restart your phone? If not, try that. And/or delete the app and reinstall it. But if you do that, be sure to save or backup any videos first. Hope that gets it fixed.

@@iphoneographers Strange, are you using the 15 pro or pro max? I've just reinstalled the app and I was able to record (frame rate drop still persists) but once I created a preset with them, it crashed every time I try to record again, probably a bug. Hope they have an update soon!

FYI, just noticed Blackmagic released an app update today. Might give it a try and see if it fixes that issue.

The high frame rate 60FPS gets conformed to 24FPS, thus creating slow motion. Basically you’re combing or condensing the extra higher frame rate into the slower frame rate.

That’s interesting, I didn’t compare file sizes. It would seem like the conformed in camera would be the same size or smaller actually because it’s 24 versus 60.
